Kukinto vase by Timo Sarpaneva (1991) , 47 cm high, 40 cm in diameter, weight 5.25 kg , made using the banded blown glass technique. The transparencies and the hot-applied coloured bands fade from red to apple green, sapphire blue and black , creating an effect of lightness and harmony . The shapes recall petals and fluid movements , giving the work dynamism and a life suspended in space .
